Jara Martín Serrano
"Building on experience with CAR-NK cell therapies and immune modulation, this work aims to better understand how tumors respond to immunotherapy and to support the development of more effective treatments for children with neuroblastoma"
With a background in biomedicine, Jara has focused on understanding metastatic processes in neuroblastoma using multi-omics approaches, combining computational and molecular analysis to unravel tumor biology.
Currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Barcelona Children’s Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Jara has also worked on immunomodulation strategies to overcome bacterial sepsis under the supervision of Dr. Francisco Lozano, strengthening expertise in immunology and translational research.
Through the Grasshopper Consortium, Jara is set to join the group of Fatima Valdes Mora at the Children’s Cancer Institute, Sydney this autumn.
During her secondment, Jara will:
*Adapt and apply the ALTEN tumoroid platform for pediatric tumors.
* Study tumor microenvironment and immune interactions using ex vivo models.
*Develop advanced methods to monitor tumor heterogeneity and drug response in real time.
Building on her experience with CAR-NK cell therapies and immune modulation, this work aims to better understand how tumors respond to immunotherapy and to support the development of more effective treatments for children with neuroblastoma.
By integrating cutting-edge ex vivo models with immuno-oncology research, Jara contributes to advancing innovative therapeutic strategies within pediatric cancer.
